The Battle of the Gumbo Gladiators returns to Festival Plaza on Saturday from Noon until 4:00 pm. Over 50 entries battle for the title of Ultimate Gumbo Gladiator in these categories: chicken/sausage, seafood and lagniappe. All proceeds from this event support Volunteers for Youth Justice. There will also be other food vendors, raffle items, and a children’s area with crafts, face painting, and other fun activities.

Robinson Film Center has showings of “Mickey 17” and “Seven Veils” this weekend. There are still some tickets available for Robinson’s Family Matinee: The Wizard of Oz: A Witches Brunch and Movie, March 8 beginning at 10:30 am. Follow the yellow brick road with Glinda and Elphaba from Never Ending Stories, LLC to a magical Witches Brunch with Slendiforous Storytime, a Munchkin Bubble Parade, an Ozdust Dance Lesson, The Wizard of Oz on the big screen, and more! On March 12th Abby Singer’s Bistro presents a Wine Tasting: explore Chile. Join Sommelier Pamela Brown of Corkscrew Wisdom for an educational tasting with a selection of Chilean wines, and complimentary hors d’oeuvres.

Logan Mansion presents All Jazzed Up! A BYO Cocktail Competition, March 8th, 7:00 – 11:00 pm. Purchase tickets starting at $25 for entry into one of five categories of BYO cocktails.  All competitors will have their beverages judged by surprise judges. There will also be live entertainment from Dallas musician Aidan Fitzgerald.

Soup Days returns to Holy Cross Episcopal Church, every Wednesday through Lent. For over 50 years the Episcopal Church Women of Holy Cross have been serving a hearty lunch of soup, a beverage and a dessert of your choice during Lent. Lunch is served in the undercroft from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm and the cost is $7. All proceeds go to support the ECW and local charities.
